Ravindra Jain, the Music Legend, dies at 71 (28.2.1944 – 09.10.2015)

Deeply saddened by Ravindra Jain's demise! He was a great music Composer and Lyricist. He composed songs for Raj Kapoor's films, many other films in Hindi and other regional languages. He also did the music for Asha Bhonsle's album, 'Oh Nama Shivaya' that had Bhajans based on Lord Shiva. Hariharan's film 'Sujatha' brought him to Malayalam cinema and then on Yesudas was his favourite singer! He has composed music for Tharangini's 'Aavani poochentu' and for two other Malayalam films, 'Sukham Sukhakaram' and 'Aakaashathinte Niram'! We are blessed to have so many Hindi songs sung by Yesudas in Ravindra Jain's Music, including the most beautiful award winning 'Gori thera...' from 'Chitchor! 'Aaj se pehale..', 'O Goriya Re …', Tu Jo mere ...' and Jab Deep Jale Aana...' top my list of 'Ravindra Jain songs'.

When I think of Ravindra Jain, what comes to my mind is what the visually challenged great Composer said about Yesudas: "If ever I get my eyesight, the first person I would like to see is Yesudas'', and he also called Yesudas 'Voice of India'! He is survived by his wife and son. Ravindra Jain is no more, but his music will live for eternity! May his soul Rest in Peace!
