Royal Welcome to Prince Charles, the Crown Prince, and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall!
The Crown Prince celebrates his 65th birthday in Kerala : Wishing the Prince, “A Fragrant and Colourful, 'God's own Country Birthday' on this 14th”!
Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla received a warm welcome at the Holy City of Rishikesh, with a special 'Aarti. They will be in India for nine days, visiting Rishikesh, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Kochi. They are in Kerala for four days starting today, 11 November, visiting the Folklore Museum and Theatre at Thevara, Jewish Synagogue in Kochi, and then on to Vaazhachaal Forest Range to visit the 'Aanachaal' and the Elephant conservation activities. They will also be visiting the INS Vikranth and Kumarakom Resort. Prince Charles will be attending official duties in Kochi, joining the dignitaries to sign the MoU, showing participation by Kochi in the 'Future Cities Project', while his wife , the Duchess of Cornwall, will be meeting the members of the 'Kutumbasree' and the Nurses at the General Hospital, followed by a visit to the Aluva Palace. His Royal Highness Uthradam Thirunal will be visiting the Prince and the Duchess while they are in Kochi.
The Prince celebrates his 65th birthday in Kerala on 14 November! The Prince shares his Big Day with Jawaharlal Nehru, our beloved 'Chacha Nehru''s birth day, which we celebrate as the 'Children's Day' in India – this is also the day Yesudas started his epic Musical Journey 52 years ago! Malayaalees feel honoured and delighted that Prince Charles and his 'Mehabooba' will be in Kerala celebrating the Prince's Big Day! (Prince Charles introduced his wife Camilla as his 'Mehabooba' (Love or beloved in Hindi), at a function in Bombay, to the delight of those who attended the gala function)
Kochi is getting ready for the Royal Visit – the Royal Couple will be arriving at the Nedumbaassery Airport at 1330 hours today! I guess the 'Birthday Celebrations' would be at the Kumarakom Resort' and I join all the others to wish Prince Charles, 'The Best Birthday Ever', on this 14th! It's quite fitting that the Prince, who loves plants and organic gardening, is celebrating his Birthday in the most beautiful place, 'God's Own Country', filled with back-waters, coconut trees and Paddy fields swaying in the fragrant breeze laced with cardamom, nutmeg and Jasmine, and many more exotic delights! I am sure our roads will be ready for the Royal visit as 'Rishi Raj', the 'Lion King' has his Protective Mantle over the roads in Kerala, and I hope the 'Saviour of our roads' is among the dignitaries to be introduced to the Royal Couple at the gala dinner organised by the Kerala Government in honour of the Royal Couple at the Taj in Kochi!
The first Royal visit to India was by King George V in 191I, and then his daughter, Queen Elizabeth II visited India in 1961. The Queen was in Kerala for four days in October 1997, and now her son, the Crown Prince, 16 years later! I hope Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall will have the most delightful four days in Kerala!
